Pretentious

You look into the eyes

Of the people you meet

When you are walking past them.

But they are not looking at you

They don’t see you.

You want them to notice you

To reveal who you are

But they are not looking at you.

They don’t see you.

So shed your pretension

Of  who you are not

Because they know who you are

Even though they are not looking

At you.

The real you.

I like this. I must say what’s the point of having a mask if people either don’t take note of you or they can see right through it. So this is great: ‘So shed your pretension’
